Alcohol and Blood Pressure

Blood pressure is affected by various states of the body throughout the day, as well as various diseases that are seen in lots of people. It can be affected by outside influences such as food and drinks, too. One of the major factors that can influence blood pressure in a person is alcohol. The relationship between alcohol and blood pressure is very significant and people should pay much more attention to it. This relationship could determine whether or not you are a healthy person. Consumption of alcoholic drinks also increases the chance of other health problems, which could also indirectly lead to blood pressure problems.

Regular drinking is the worst. Regular drinkers are exceptionally prone to having high blood pressure, because they harm their kidneys in such a way that more pressure is exerted on arteries. The kidneys are closely connected with blood pressure. Drinking alcohol should be limited to no more than one or two drinks every day or so. Women should be especially careful as to how much they drink because their tolerance to alcohol is usually lower. If blood pressure becomes a strong problem, doctors are very likely to administer some strong medicine to a person.

Alcohol also causes some people to become overweight. It is a contributing factor to being overweight, due to the number of calories it contains. Beer gut people get after downing a few beers a day is not only making you looks bad, but it also probably raises your blood pressure to dangerously high levels. After all, the more fat is in a body, the more pressure that fat is going to put on arteries, which will in turn raise the pressure of the blood pressing against the arteries.

Because of the strong correlation between alcohol and high blood pressure, it is clear to see that the less alcohol someone consumes, the easier it will be to keep blood pressure down.

Alcoholic drinks bring many health risks, and they can be avoided by drinking less. Lower blood pressure is only one of the benefits of drinking less, but the very important one.
